Hoop Earrings, Huggies, Sleepers and Creoles
A hoop earring is, at its simplest, a ring of metal worn at the ear, and it is a style people have been wearing for at least 3,000 years.
Today hoops come in every size, from huggies, which sit close against the earlobe, to very large ones. Some open on a hinge, so the hoop can be passed through the ear and snapped shut into a catch.
Most of the collection is hoop earrings for women, with men's and unisex styles too. Besides round hoops there are oval and square ones, along with sleepers and creoles. Créole is a French name for a style of hoop that became fashionable in the late 18th century and stayed popular through the 19th, particularly around the Mediterranean, where in many places it became part of traditional dress.
Across the collection, some are plain, while others have a diamond-cut or twisted finish or are set with cubic zirconia. The metals include sterling silver, gold and stainless steel, and a few are gold-plated. For studs, drops and other styles, see the full earrings collection.
