Pure gold is soft, so for jewellery it is mixed with other metals to give it the hardness and strength it needs. The metals in that mix affect its colour as well: copper gives a reddish tint and silver a greenish one.
Alongside plain hoops, the collection has sleepers, small earrings worn to keep a pierced ear from closing, and huggies, which sit close against the earlobe. Some are hinged, so the hoop swings open to pass through the ear and then closes.
Most are gold hoop earrings for women, with men's and unisex styles among them, and a few are sold as single earrings, some for a cartilage piercing. Designs include creoles and patterned hoops with a diamond-cut, twisted or rope finish, and a few are set with cubic zirconia. For hoops in other metals, see the main hoop earrings collection.
