'Cara' - pure, cherished, beloved
'Thea' - Roman goddess who endowed gold, silver and gems with their radiance
Carathea is a small, family-run contemporary jewellers with a shop (called Jools - sketched by my 16-year old daughter below!) in Somerset in the UK and online at www.carathea.co.uk.
We have previously had shops in Bristol and Street.
We go to great lengths to stock a selection of excellent brands. We are passionate about bringing our customers beautiful and luxurious jewellery which is of the best quality but is also affordable.
By purchasing from us it enables us to continue to stock great products and help us introduce you to new, up-and-coming brands and trends.
Our aim, whether through our website, our blog or in our shops is to give genuine advice and offer an honest service and for our customers to feel great about their interaction with us.
It makes our day if we've managed to tick all the boxes and when you are as delighted with your purchase months and years after you've purchased it as you were on the day you bought it.
For us, that is getting it right.
We get to know our customers as they come back to visit us again and again, we get to hear about your ups and downs (and sometimes you hear ours!) and we deeply value this relationship with our customers. It is truly the best part of the job.
Jools was started by Denise after many years in retail - her parents opened their first shop when she was 5 years old in the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare and they eventually had 7 shops around Somerset. Denise was always in the shops as she grew up and was actively working in the shops from the age of 11.
Jonathan, Denise's partner, has previously worked in the business and now does most of the watch repairs. All three of Denise's children have worked in the shop and helped on the website. It is a real family affair.
