What sets a Figaro chain apart is its rhythm: three or more short links, then a longer oval one.
That repeating break gives the chain a pattern of its own, which makes it popular with people who find a plain chain dull. Traditionally Figaro has been a men's chain, often worn with a cross or medallion, though nothing about the pattern limits it to that.
